The Sims 4 tutorials
i'm currently learning how to mod the game, i'm mostly on the recolor part,
but sometimes find difficult finding tutorials or are very long, so i'm doing mine too for remember stuff in long time, i do only easy stuff, is mostly messing with the textures without touching the 3d meshes parts (i'm still learning that one)
i will not cover just modding but even other stuff of the game i find useful to write about
tools i use or are required
- installing sims4studio required
- program for modify the image texture (photoshop, ecc... i use gimp)
- the sims 4 with mods enabled
for now i will mostly cover about modding:
- how to make custom grass
- how to make custom tiles/wallpapers
- how to make eyecolor (non-default, facepaint section)
- how to make tattoos
- how to recolor objects
- how to make custom carpets
- how to make custom posters
- how to make custom shirts prints

how to make tattoos
- get the templates body textures from here for better positioning the tattoo later, i usually use the grid ones
sims4studio.com templates
- in sims4studio click "create cas standalone"
- in part type search "tattoo (+ for example upper arm)
- click in the swatch that match the best the tattoo you want
- save the file
- export the diffuse texture
- open the program for modifify the image texture, import the template from earlier and the diffuse
- position the best the tattoo over the template (that for example was the upper arm)
- when save the image remember to hide the template layer, save as png or dds format
- import the new file as new diffuse and done!
- drag your tattoo package file in your mod folder and test it in game, it should show up in tattoo (for example upper arm), if works congratulations!
how to make eyecolor/contact lenses (non-default)
- in sims4studio click "create cas standalone"
- in part type search "eye color"
- click in the eye swatch that match the best the color you want
- on studio section, in texture section, export "diffuse" (this gonna be the eye texture)
- now return to the homepage and click "create cas standalone"
- search in part type "facepaint"
- click on one of the random facepaint
- save the file with the name you want
- open the program for modifify the image texture and modify the iris and pupil (i use glass spheres from pinterest)
- save the new image (as png or dds formats), import it as new diffuse texture in the facepaint package file and... done!
- drag your facepaint package file in your mod folder and test it in game, it should show up in facepaint makeup, if works congratulations!
